Well Sat. July 19 I went out on my first group ride. Being that it was suppose to get into the mid 90's I almost had second thought.  I added this section to the forum since I've noticed that a lot of the motorcycle riders take photo's of their rides and post them on the various motorcycle forums I've been on.  Although most are taken with point and shoots and would fall in the snapshot catagory (carrying a point and shoot on a bike is easier) I felt that opening up another area of photo shooter would give us an opportunity to see even more places. We have seen some really nice sites from our English friends already. So here goes. My first group ride. Nothing special as to photo's just a great day meeting new friends.
We started out at Popoli's Honda in Westfield, Ma. The owner hosts rides there every third Sat. of the Month. Has coffee and donuts waiting for us and on our return there is a cookeout. Wooo Hooo what a super guy Eric is. The ride itself was organized by Ian the founder of www.coolbikerides.com.
Early Arrivals

Bike lined up while we meet each other.

Once underway a few of the riders wanted to top off their fuel.

Our ride took us thru Otis, Ma., Great Barrington, Ma., Canaan, Ct. back up thru Ma.
We took a short Water break half way thru our trip since dehydration is an easy thing to have happen when riding.

Break over time to hit the road

Our last stop was at Coldbrook Res. Peaceful and if you noticed the same place I got a few shots last winter when I was crazy enough to be out riding. LOL

We spent a short time here to strecth our legs get some photos and of course chit chat. One of the hard things on group rides is getting photos. Purpose of the get together is for riding so making a lot of stops is a no no. Eventually I'll get a special mount that goes on the bike to hold a camera. This way I'll be able to get scenic shots as I'm riding.
Ok time to head back to the starting point. Our group heads off.
Our Fearless leader in the lead.

Only with a windshield on your bike do you even think about riding with your mouth open.  ROFL Otherwise you be cleaning bugs off your teeth when ya got home.

We get our wave of course.

Our Thumbs up

As you can see we all are happy riders. Now I bet ya'll thought it was mostly young tough biker dudes riding.  Nail Bite

We head back to Popoli's Honda where the chow is waiting for us.

Park our bikes.

Some sought shade for their lunch time.

I found it really funny when I was taking this photo of some of our bikes parked under this sign. Considering most of the riders were umm Seniors I wonder if we this was  subconscious behavior.  Hammock

A few more photos are in my album here. http://newenglanddigitalphotography.com/index.php?action=gallery;su=user;cat=52;u=1

We had a great mix of people. Old, young, married , single and a mix of bikes.  Everyone was great and we had a safe ride. Hopefully some of the riders will see this posting and join us and share in their sites during their travel.
Thanks for viewing.

Great set of pics and dialog to go with them. Looks like you teamed up with a great bunch of people enjoying each others company and mutual like of biking. If I were over there I would probably get me a speed iron and join you!!

Now that I spend a lot of time over in Yorkshire out in the sticks (away from computers) we get to see (close up!) a lot of biker groups enjoying the fantastic roads in the dales. It usually takes about 15 minutes for a decent sized group to get by the cars on these twisting narrow roads but everyone helps out by opening gaps between cars so they can leap frog through.

I can remember my very brief period owning a bike and how it felt riding on winding roads in good weather. Your photos and story make me feel envious.

Glad to see you having a great time and thanks for sharing your day out.

Thanks Frank. I thought some comments add to the images would bring them to life more also to show people that not all bikers are the long hair tattooed problem types. With gas prices the way they are more and more people are buying them. I'm going to have to get me some type of point and shoot to take on the rides later. Too hard with the bigger camera. Just can't have it around you neck cruising the twisties etc. Got another group ride coming up this Sunday if the weather holds out. Heck if I hold out. Hot one again this week and the boss ain't cutting me no slack.  whip
